QIGONG FOR HEALTH
Qigong helps us find our inner quiet when the world around us is so chaotic.
~Francesco Garri Garripoli
Qigong is a gentle moving meditative practice that promotes the healing of mind and body. Qi means energy or life force and gong means a practice or discipline. Qigong – Energy practice. This ancient Chinese healing modality helps to reduce high blood pressure, symptoms of chronic illness, pain, PTSD, depression, boredom and mental stress. Many of these issues are sadly experienced daily by Retirement Home Residents and VA Hospitals Residents. Qigong gently pulls us back into health if we are unhealthy (by shifting our attention) and gently holds us in health when we are healthy.
We all expend enormous energy in our daily lives. We give energy to our careers, our relationships, raising children, friendships, involvement with organizations, running errands and the list goes on. All of this energy that we are putting forth is energy that is going out from us, away from us and at some point, if not rebalanced, often results in some type of physical ailment.
The gentle body motions along with controlled breathing and attention to the Yi (our thoughts, frame of mind, visualizations) activates our immune system while simultaneously producing a less stressful and healthy state of mind. The health benefits from Qigong point to the body’s incredible tendency to return to balance.
When we give the body and mind a chance to heal, the body heals naturally and easily. What does it specifically mean to give the body and mind a chance to heal? It means that we do three things: we engage in gentle body motions, control our breath and focus on the Yi. When we bring these three aspects into alignment, we have found the key to healing. This is the gift of Qigong.
After we end our daily Qigong practice, we feel a little bit better about ourselves, a little calmer, a little more clear and settled in our heads and in our hearts. The hope is that when we return to our daily lives, we might speak with a little more awareness, more kindness, be less reactive to peoples mistakes, be less reactive to stressful situations and have a little deeper understanding of who we are. This is what it means to grow in our lives, to become better human beings and why a practice such as Qigong is so worthwhile.
Qigong requires no equipment. It can be done anywhere, inside (minimal space required) or outside. It shares much in common with yoga and Tai Chi. Most people find Qigong less difficult than yoga or Tai Chi making Qigong a very practical and accessible healing modality.

QIGONG FOR PRIMARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
What a wonderful opportunity it is for young people to learn the essence of Qigong practice. Many young school children will carry on this health modality for life. Others will forget about it but come back to it later in life. Exposing these young students to Qigong at this early time of life is key. I gear my Qigong workshops for younger students to easily grasp the concepts...easy body motions, emphasis on deep, slow breathing and positive thinking. I am always excited to share with the younger generations and watch, in real time, their enthusiasm grow for Qigong.
NOTE TO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TEACHERS
Imagine your students starting and ending every class with a simple Qigong move (done 3 times, which amounts to about 30 seconds) that calms there spirit by controlling their energy. This Qigong move will not only help your students and you in the moment but will also effortlessly introduce the idea of Qigong to the impressionable minds of your young students. Many of these young students will want to explore Qigong (and perhaps other holistic health modalities) later in life as a result of this early exposure.
Contact me, I would love to share this technique with you. No need to hesitate, call or text me now...(717) 304-2142. This will be a game changer!
A NOTE REGARDING QIGONG FOR OLDER ADULTS
For people in the prime of life Qigong is a proactive and preventative health measure. For older people living in retirement centers, VA hospitals and other facilities, Qigong is so much about quality of life. If you have a parent(s) living in a retirement center, no doubt you have seen many of their peers, and maybe one of your parents too, suffering from depression, loneliness and boredom.
Qigong has the ability to shift one’s attention away from oneself. When we shift our attention away from ourselves, we feel better. For someone suffering from loneliness, for example, this shift in attention is such a relief point. As a consequence, they can’t wait to participate in the next Qigong session. I have seen the sparkle in people’s eyes many times (young people and older people). It’s that recognition, silently affirming the specialness of Qigong.
QIGONG FOR BUSINESS
Qigong reduces stress, improves employee health, attitude and energy. This means employees take less sick days, are calmer when dealing with customers and contribute more to the effectiveness of the work environment. When employees feel balanced, even and steady the company operates optimally. Qigong is very helpful for business managers and department heads who need to be calm in those all-important meetings and also when engaging with employees on a day-to-day basis. At every level, qigong teaches people how to remain internally at ease no matter what business situations they face.
